Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi organised its Annual Art Exhibition / 2019 at its gallery at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16 B, Chandigarh, India from 22nd to 30 November 2019.

 

It was inaugurated by artist Ranbir Kaleka.

Artworks by professional artists, student artists and senior artists from Punjab and Chandigarh, carefully selected by the judging committee and selection committee, were on display during this much awaited art event of the year in the region.

Total 122 artworks by artists from Punjab and Chandigarh were exhibited in this exhibition. 33 artworks by invited artists, 42 artworks by professional artists and 47 artworks by student artists were on display.

Total 8 awards have been given in the competition section. In the professional section three Awards of Rs. 50,000/- each have been given to Mr. Charanjit Singh, for the sculpture titled “Serving Fields; Ms. Manjot Kaur, for the two channel video titled “Random order/ Constant Motion” and Mr. Tulsi Ram for the sculpture titled “Shelter”.

In the students section five Awards of Rs. 25,000/- each have been given to: Ms. Anjali Gaur for the painting titled “Memory alive”, Mr. Gunda Rohith for the sculpture titled “Think – Sacrifice”, Ms. Ramneet Kaur for the installation titled “A world of me”; Ms. Srishti for the drawing titled “Untitled” and Mr. Sun-Robin for painting titled “Ghutan”

The two person jury consisting of internationally acclaimed artists Jagannath Panda and Arun Kumar H G from Delhi, recommended the names for awards for Annual Art Exhibition 2019 and the artworks displayed in the exhibition.

Artists from Punjab and Chandigarh were requested to submit entries in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, graphics/print making, photography, drawing, mixed-media, installation, video installations and other related discipline.

Along with these selected artworks, Akademi invited senior and established artists to send their artworks so that the Annual Art Exhibition becomes truly representative of the art created in the region in recent years.

Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi organizes its Annual Art Exhibition every year to encourage talented artists by giving awards and also by showcasing the art created in this region.

An aesthetically designed and professionally printed 296 page Artbook titled KalaPunjab 2019 with the reproduction of all the artworks represented in this exhibition, portraits of all the participating artists and detailed report on all the programmes organised by the Akademi since July 2018 till November 2019, was also released by Ranbir Kaleka and Diwan Manna, President Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi on this occasion.
