Bathinda, 31 October: “For the last 15 or so years I have been searching beyond the world of material objects. My glimpse into religious classics, right from Sumerian times to 20thcentury, reading the discussions on the nature of Reality at quantum level, I have come to the realization that human beings have interpreted reality, the world around them using limited vocabularies of language, and of the concepts available to them, at that particular place and at that particular time in history.” These were the thoughts shared by world renowned sculptor of Indian origin from England Avtarjeet Singh Dhanjal during the meet the artist event titled ‘Karam, Kirat te Kala’ by Punjab Lalit Kala Academy in association with Sobha Singh Memorial Chitarkaar Society at Teachers’ Home Bathinda today.
“As a result, my recent work has not to make more material objects, but to create situations/installations to share those glimpses beyond the world of material objects. Coming back to my study, besides the interpretation of Reality, I have been searching for answers to other bigger questions, such as how did we arrive where we are today, and the reality of time and other such abstract phenomenon, considering the limitations of human perception and understanding. These are just hints on the direction of my present journey; I do not claim to have answers to such questions, and may not even find them during my lifetime, but continuing the search is the only option I have.” Dhanjal added.
